Resetting The Date Synchronization Uses When Creating Synchronization Files

The way synchronization works WINSALES is pulling all of the changes out of a database since the time and date of the last time synchronization was done at that site. Those changes are put into an extract file and transmitted to the destination site for import. If there are problems in either the creation of the extract file or in importing an extract file from a site here are the appropriate strategies to solve the problem.

At the Master Site:

If there is a problem with the extract files created by the master for the remote sites.

Advise the remote users to delete any sync files in email or the local user’s SyncPath as the sync file we will create will have all the information.

Log into the master database in the Administrator as a user linked to the master site.

Select SYNCHRONIZATION + EXTRACT from the FILE menu.

Change the Extract Changes Since date to be before the last successful synchronization and click OK to create the sync file.

If you are using email to send sync files run synchronization through the synchronization program and the sync file created by WS ADMINISTRATOR will be appended to and emailed.

NOTE: If you are working with NetSync you can find this date by looking in your site's *.log file located in your SyncPath.

At the Remote Site:

If it is a problem with importing the synch files from a remote site have the remote user recreate their extract file for the master following these instructions:

Delete any sync file in email or the local user’s SyncPath.

Log into the remote database in the Administrator as a user at the remote site.

Select SYNCHRONIZATION + EXTRACT from the FILE menu.

Change the Extract Changes Since date to be before the last successful synchronization and click OK to create the sync file.

If you are using email to send sync files run synchronization through the synchronization program and the sync file created by Administrator will be appended to and emailed.
