Duplicate Field Names Cause Mass Update/Delete Wizards To Modify The Wrong Records

Problem: When working with the WIZARDS located in WINSALES 5.0 under the TOOLS menu and WIZARDS + ADMINISTRATOR, or in older versions of WINSALES the HELP + WIZAZRDS menu option, the wrong records are being updated.

Solution: If there are field names that are the duplicated on the ACTIVITY or TABLE that your are working on the search engine will not know which field to use and could select the wrong records. For example if you have two fields called SALES REP, excatly the same names, even if they are different data types, or one is a reference to a table with an alternate name, the duplicate display names will cause problems in the wizards.

When searching or updating a field where the name has duplicates the wrong records could be selected for update or delete.

Having field names that are unique is the best safegaurd against this issue. A field name can be used on CONTACT and an ACTIVITY, or different ACTIVITY types, but the same name on the same ACTIVITY or TABLE should be avoided !
